Our Legacy

The Children’s Choir of Southern New Jersey is proudly supported by the Chicken Bone Beach Historical Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to preserving the rich African-American jazz heritage of Atlantic City and promoting music education for youth. Founded to honor the cultural and historical significance of Chicken Bone Beach, the Foundation provides educational programs, free music lessons, summer jazz camps, and performance opportunities for young musicians.

While the choir benefits from the Foundation’s guidance and mission, it maintains its own identity as a professional, community-based children’s choir, offering singers ages 8–18 the chance to develop vocal excellence, perform with professional ensembles, and give back to their community through music.

Through this partnership, the choir continues the Foundation’s legacy of celebrating music, culture, and community, providing young artists with a platform to grow, perform, and share their talents while connecting to the rich history of jazz and the arts in Southern New Jersey.

Our Story

Founded in 2022 under the leadership of Claire N. Collins, Dr. Dianna Hughes, Dr. Beverly Vaughn, and Richard T. Tinsley II, the choir was created to provide children across Southern New Jersey with professional-level performance opportunities while nurturing confidence, artistry, and a love for music.

Over the past several years, the choir has grown into a diverse ensemble where young singers not only refine their voices but also learn the importance of collaboration, discipline, and community service.
